Latest Jeff Chiplis news: he’s in Metro Hospital, room 1144, bed 1, phone number 216.957.7921. Calls are ok up until 8.30 pm. Visiting hours are 10.30 to 2.30 and 4.30 to 8.30, but don’t visit if you are sick because he’s vulnerable right now.

I visited yesterday and he’s in a lot of pain but still has his sense of humor, more or less. He said that when his assailant tried to shoot him, he heard CLICK CLICK CLICK as the gun failed to fire three times before hearing the BOOM of the fourth trigger pull. I cannot and do not want to imagine what went through his mind during that time. That he himself called 911 to report being shot and to describe his robbers simply blows me away. Since Jeff was shot twice, that means the robber pulled the trigger five times at least, so there’s no doubt of intent to kill. Jeff may not believe it right now as much as he hurts and as much recovery pain and misery lies ahead of him but he must have one lucky karma to survive such nastiness.

I’m a reasonably compassionate person but I find myself wanting to find these two robbers and hurt them bad, even kill them. I am never far from the limbic lizard that lives at the base of my brain.

I was wrong in my previous blog when I said Jeff was returning from a concert at Pat’s in the Flats — he was on his way to the concert when it happened.

On a much lower personal petty level, it struck me as typical of Fox News moral ethics that they used my fotos of Jeff’s art and my website graphics in their news spot without notifying me or asking permission. The Bonfoey Gallery also stole my blog foto of Chiplis for their blog without permission or attribution. I’d expect stealing from Fox, but not Bonfoey.
