The dream is interesting... and from things I've read recently on interpreting dreams there is some place to go with the symbolism. In one of the things I'd read recently it related that all the people in a dream are parts of oneself.. so perhaps an older wiser part of yourself ( your grandfather) is trying to feed or nourish another more giving part of yourself ( the waitress= someone who serves others).

If you take it in a shamanic way.. all that they got from life now goes back into the system. What they learned they now nurture in you thus feeding it back to you in the dream as "grass". And the grass is both a symbol of life and a mild psychedelic drug that acts on the creative pars of our selves. Also was something that shamans and holy men/women used to get into a state to connect with the ancestors..

So perhaps a few thoughts to maybe go with there.
I liked your thoughts about your Grandma being able to be free and share in a wider scope now... I think that is perhaps true...

I loved what you shared here.. given me some things to think about,.
