Out at the In-laws 15

Heading toward Dead Man’s Curve
rush hour traffic sun setting behind us
Screaming Jay screaming “I put a spell on you,”
this outlaw’s en route to in-laws
to see if queen bee free from three day cage,
black and blues oozing
Guitar Slim, Memphis Slim, Slim Harpo,
Little Walter & his Dukes from the speakers
as we zoom by Vrooman Road
Ashtabula bound to our beehive three days old
to see if hive survives
thrives in deep river of song above the pond
where blob turned turtle turns green heron
fishing with its mate
as my mate enjoying Cletus Black
and Otis Taylor
cuts chive into sour cream saying
“This is from the yard”
and I reply
“I like knowing where my chives come from.
And my hives.
Like to keep my spare chives in my hive,
And my hives in the chives.
Once had five hives
aligned and alive in one chive
with my Jekyll jive and Hyde.”
