Here are six since 1994. I’ve been making this stuff since 1965, but didn’t really get serious until 1978. Since then, I’ve become a legume in my own mine.

My Fair Lady, 1996, 15″ x 12″ – collage and foto by Smith

Lady liked this one so much I gave it to her since she IS my fair lady, even though I made it 9 years before we took up.

Mother Night, 2004, 10″ x 14″ – collage and foto by Smith

My take on Kurt Vonnegut’s novel of the same name. Dark novel, dark movie, both excellent.

What A, 2007, 12″ x 16″ – collage and foto by Smith

Made this in Croatia from the few English language magazines we could find to buy at exorbitant prices.

The Republic, 1994, 11″ x 11″ – collage and foto by Smith

Folded an American flag back on itself, glued it down, tossed some liquid copper corrosion and loose rust on top and covered it with dress patterns.

Plot To Get Whitey, 1996, 11″ x 9″ – collage and foto by Smith

Tore this “PLOT TO GET WHITEY – Red-hot young Negroes plan a ghetto war” headline from a 1950’s issue of LOOK or LIFE magazine. And they say those were the good old days.

Afterthought, 1996, 6″ x 5″ – collage and foto by Smith

Contains a dead baby bird (above the toy figure’s head). As I went into a Seven-Eleven, a bird fell out of its nest onto the hot concrete and was dead by the time I came back out, so I took it home and put it into this collage. I used a Grandma Moses print for the background – you can still see a segment of it in the lower right corner. I broke the glass and burned the frame the print came in, then did the collage on top of the remaining glass.
