Laughing in a Room Alone

And now we do the parse and shuffle
in this night of greeting card
here at the shrine of the sorrowful Smith

We all rise by quark up through the atomic,
nuclear, hadronic, molecular school rule.

So then what is our expanding universe
expanding in to, exactly?
What unwhats our presence decrease?

I mean, if you can’t talk to strangers
who do strangers talk to?

I know to get to wisdom
you amp up the circuit
then take out the filters.

You can’t make everything better
but sometimes you can make some of it less bad.

Dark cloud at the end of town
I surf the curse of worse
find meaning the making machine.

Better fresh than foul
better worn than weary.

Life in the flesh lane —
keep shaking that Etch-o-Sketch, human
backside the mirror here in tarnished brain land.

Outstanding! I just love this one… I can see certain elements and know were they come from.. but it makes me smile how you’ve woven them together.

A really good good poem Steve.

LOve the photos too. Where did you find the top one it made me laugh out loud?

both fotos were taken sunday at the aribica during rufus poetry workshop. top foto inside the men’s room, bottom foto from bulletin board between restrooms.

poem is just harvesting lines from my notebook — collage, rearrange and fill.

in fact two phrases i stole from rufus – the parse & shuffle, and laughing in a room alone.

I recognized the etch-a -sketch and the quantum physics references.. I assume possible conversations with Lady…

    Regardless… a great poem… very inventive.

Also shows you how unobservant I am. I stood in front of that flier and never really “saw” it.
