Holy H2O 4

Holy Water

As I lie reading
Tao Te Ching’ drops in bathtub
I soak in Tao juice

— Smith, 2005

It took me 42 years writing poetry to write my first haiku, or senryu for the academics who insist on proper wordage, and it happened because I was soaking in the bathtub reading Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and it slipped from my fingers and fell into my bath water, whereupon the poem appeared in my mind in its entirety.

Since then, there’s been hundreds, many caused by Coffee Mountain in Mexico, a dozen or so by driving cross country, and many more due to Lady and our cat Mandy — all as divine as the Tao Te Ching.

I’m facing darkness within, need to find the holy.

wow… on both the fotos and the thoughts…. I’ve had a few moments in my life like that… revelatory and special.

I’m so often inspired and awed by your and Kathy’s creativity… you have no idea how grateful I am for having had the opportunity to know you ..

Glad we can be of service. I wish I had someone I felt about as you do about us, but I’ve always walked my own path, oblivious of all the teachers about me who might have been able to make my plodding easier.

we… I don’t feel a need to imitate in anyway… but I Iove to see what and how you create…

it helps me have the courage to explore more outside my own little “box”… or at least helps push my own walls a bit more.
