Iron not – foto Smith

Mausoleum, Museum, Movie

Entombed in night, uneasy
In the wrought iron knots
Of the gray spider’s thread
  vague eternal, ember
They scurry replete, unfree
To such preconceived thoughts
As are hung from the dead

— Smith, 1969

Picked this old poem to match the new fotos.

Poem is about some folk being so afraid of death and of living their own lives using their own inner values and thoughts and principles they turn instead to outside authority such as academics, society and the past — i.e., death. Or so my 23 yr-old self thought. And as my nigh 66 yr-old self still believes.

  1. Two great photos!

The first portrays to me what Siberia must be like & the second does resemble an arachnoid claw.

They both illustrate yer pome wonderfully!

  2. love the two photos where where they taken?

Also really love the poem… gave me a thought in reading it.. hope you don’t mind if I take one or two words and develop a different idea… it stimulated a thought.
