Life 7

I like movies
life slices with starts, middles, ends
which life ain’t like
life’s more loop de loop
run around rat wheel
laying the lie
till you’ve payed last lay
land unplanned
you do your due do
day after daze
by gun
by guilty
by god

morning nook

Life 6

Sipping first of 2 cups
of Costa Rican pan-made cowboy coffee
and its caffeine content is up there somewhere . . .
slowly eyes widen,
fog drops,
life returns,
there is hope in this whack-weary world
of the latest with the loudest
limbic dust or sex perplex.

Leonardo da Vinci, Croatia 2007

Life 5

“I have offended God and mankind,
for having done so little with my life”
sez Leonardo da Vinci.

Wonder where that leaves me —
under a rock, or at the bottom of the sea?

Life (4)

Tuesday, November 19th, 2013

Wrote five more poems titled Life, which makes eight so far. It’s the only title I’ve duped in 50 years of writing. Going to keep going, write a couple hundred more Lifes over the next 67 years of my life.

And, as befitting such a serious topic, they’re all minor poems.

Something has happened to me poetry-wise . . . I no longer care what people think, just write for myself. I’ve stopped wondering if I’m a real poet – reading Wallace Stevens with all his wonder and warts shows me I am. Others’ thoughts on the matter matter less than the figurative fig leaf on the groin of life.

Life (4)

It is 10 of 10 in time
as I soak with no toke
wake with no bake
in this bath of life
10 of 10 for life losses
10 of 10 with life gain
I’m 10 of 10 in the poetry market
same in the art game

I would like to overcome addiction
to the tape loop muttering ruminations,
the hunched over thoughts steeping stewing
brewing chattering discontent in myself

I would like to overcome
the contaminated feeling that wants
to smother itself in dopamine brownies,
cookies, hurried white and yellow ramblings
gnoshing through the cupboards

Overcome the hungry ghost
in me, happy it
in better

When I do, the moments I
do make good decisions, better, sure…
there’s a sense of loss, like I’ve
gotten on the train
without some desired
item like a security blanket
or favorite doll

It’s like that game of trust
falling backwards into friends’ hands
letting concerns go
letting the sugar starch rest uneaten
or eaten by others

I shouldn’t worry
I shouldn’t hoard

This season will provide

The seasons will continue to provide

life form

If you’re going to use it
you may as well choose it
before you lose it

– Smith, 11.18.2013

Growing up, I’d always thought one reached a certain age, retired, then spent the rest of their life being wise and doing as little as possible. But it doesn’t seem to work that way. Life just keeps on happening and you keep on trying to keep up.

Plus I’ve met very few wise.

Went to add this poem to my master file and found I already had one titled Life, so guess I just started a “Life” series of poems.

Is it sow and reap?
Or rip and sew?

USA today

3 Men from a Police Lineup Walk into a Bar

The banker says,
Okay let’s get this show on the road.
I’ve got places to do, people to screw.

The politician replies,
There’s lies to tell, votes to sell, before I go to hell.

The priest smacks his lips at the little boyships.

Birdseed Feed

Birdtree feathers flit
top to bottom, branch to branch
leaping leaf to seed

Peter Ball and I recorded a new song Wednesday. This is my77th song online, so I’m a moldy oldie all by myself. The lyrics are mostly nonsense, as you can hear at Optional Gravy

Optional Gravy

This outside-the-liner slunk from his package
escaping the system as such
proving full well the old-timer’s adage
most helpful avoiding the clutch.

Three parts vermillion four hour twenty
you want it I’ll match you some lies
test your running the con in the cunning
even provide you replies.

Oh jump for joy, employ jubilation
Express all your ritual wry
In laughter leading relaxing nation
Reducing stress levels too high

Ain’t no reason or season ensuing
these sounds are just wandering wry
tongue torque-type teasing slewing
aiming to igloo the lie.

Come sign my mime for more or less legion
returning blue sky to the why
forget foolish fuel fossil religions
let’s earn us some hot apple pie.

Jumping employs the joy jubilation
Expresses your ritual wry
Laughter leads us relaxing station
Reduced our stress levels high
