no Hank Williams art so I used Ernest Tubb

New song, our third since musician Peter Ball got home from 5 months of stroke damage rehabilitation end of December . . . still quite rough with serious microfone problems and worse vocal performance, but slowly we’re getting back our groove.

Peter had a stroke middle of night mid July, struggled downstairs into backyard and was found unconscious by neighbors next morning.

He lives alone so if he hadn’t gotten outside, he wouldn’t have made it.

He’s lost too much weight, easily tires, and there is some nerve damage to his right arm which is his main music source since he’s a keyboardist, but everything seems to be getting slowly better.

Hank’s Highway

If the good Lord’s willin’ and the creek don’t rise
or the drugs don’t kill you in the back of your ride
I’ll catch you soon some Saturday night
hear Hey Good Lookin’ and I Saw the Light
but just in case you died 62 years ago
when I was 6 and too young to know
well, we’ll play a stack of your vinyl hits
ride the Lost Highway, dig down the do dips

Wear my soul through to follow your shoe
your old cold moan owning the blues
lay my heart at the beat of your feet
no matter play, you’re one-way street.

get the chills the way you sang and played
man you were good and so soon gone
they’re still eating rich off’n your song
you told Minnie Pearl you were lost to night
but man the way you sing you bring the light
as should we, each our own
trying to reach in seed your sown
get a taste of streets you strayed
walking down that lost highway.

Wear my soul through to follow your shoe
your old cold moan owning the blues
lay my heart at the beat of your feet
no matter play, you’re one-way street.
