Serious poem followed by serious subject – the Illuminati.

Finally got my personal invitation to join the Illuminati.

Somewhat puzzled though – if they’ve studied me enough to recognize my exceptional exceptionalism, how come they’re asking my name, age, sex, address, etc? Wouldn’t the Knowers know?

And since they are The Illuminati, you know, the cream of the cream mind-wise, I sorta figured they would write a wee bit better, handle such simple tasks as punctuation, capitalization, plurals, coherence, flow, and sentence structure properly.

My favorite sentence is “When you become a member you will have the opportunity to be great and dine with great human from different nations.”

Must admit I would like to dine with this great human from different nations.

Also quite fond of this sentence: “All the members and staffs of the great ILLUMINATI. wishes to congratulates you”.

I’m probably in trouble cuz they told me to keep this a secret, otherwise “everyone” would want in. But if they’re secret, how come they have a website with a JOIN button on the bottom?

If these are the people who, as they say, “rule every social part of the world, music, sports and politics, the second essential component is control of the media,” then their failure to master basic sentence structure helps explain why the world they are running is in such a mess.

my wife left this morning, with another woman

My wife left this morning, with another woman. She and ma-in-law went camping at New York’s Finger Lakes for two days. I’m so used to being a Smith&Lady unit, I feel off-balance. And MandyCat’s going to get cranky when she doesn’t come home tonight.

Lady’ll check our hive Sunday on the way back, so I have an extra week to recover from my sting. Got my first sting Monday 1pm, no swelling. Woke Tuesday with swollen hand. Wednesday swoll more. Thursday unswoll by half. Today only stung thumb area swollen, with a thickness beneath stung area.

So far our first beehive is progressing by the book . . . we use Beekeeping for Dummies.

Lady and I laid out 40 small frames of varying sizes. Going to do a slew of June assemblages, some hers, some ours, some mine.

My first is above, her current three below, all works in process.

Lady Poem – June 4, 2015

A kneeling person
in a sunken cathedral
haloed by the universe’s concern
like an x marks the spot
Christ on the cross

Knights playing lofty
games of giant chess on the
battlefield of conflicting ideals,
honor and secrets

Live and love
persistent flapping prayer flags,
a Buddhist monk flying, an asexual actor
trailing through bowing flowers kissed by
pursed lips of blowing wind
hugging flow xoxo

Women, too, claiming stakes
not only moon, but sun, too

1st sting new hive

1stbeesting1

1stbeesting2
my 1st bee sting from our hive

My right hand has ballooned up like a Michael Meyers fat suit.

I got my first sting from our beehive Monday on our 7th interaction with it. Weather was too cold to open the hive for inspection – 46 degrees when the bees prefer 55 – and I was too aggressive in cleaning out burr comb (that’s the wax honeycomb the bees build between frames or inappropriate places in the hive), and when I was done, one bee stung me.

It was so gentle I said “Did I just get stung?” and looked and sure enough there was the stinger with its venom sac still attached. I pulled it out and pretty much ignored it. They suggest you take benadryl after a sting, but this seemed so minor, I didn’t. That night I had trouble finding where I was stung and was thinking this is nothing.

Info says swelling and pain happens immediately, then subsides after a few hours, so I thought I was free and clear. Next morning I woke to a hugely swollen hand, not painful but super itchy, difficult to close into a fist, so I didn’t start swelling until 12-15 hours after the sting.

Now after two days of ballooning ever bigger, I’m waiting for the swelling to subside. I think it’s reached maximum size because it can’t get much bigger without exploding . . . I’ve no detail on my hand, no knuckles, no wrinkles, no veins, just bulging tight red itchy artificial looking balloon skin with a hardness beneath the main sting area.

I don’t wear any protective gear when inspecting the hive, just a white t-shirt, but if I’m stung again I’ll have to reconsider.

I’m a little sad losing my non-stung status after working with our beekeeper mentor for a year plus seven visits to our own hive, but I’m also proud to be carrying a sting from our own hive.

Interesting point about the burr comb I removed – my pa-in-law who’s an engineer noted the six-sided wax cells the bees construct have the front-side cells offset half a cell from the back-side cells . . . this makes their entire honeycomb structure much stronger (see foto below).
