Crashes: Fast, Soft, Slow, Hard / As Rock Rolls On

Thursday, December 30th, 2021

Didn’t blog November or December’s monthly feature on Medusa’s Kitchen.

Wondering if my ego’s all it used to be.

Thanks to publisher/editor Kathy Kieth for the features past 73 months (a gig longer than my 1st marriage).

Lady’s latest

Tuesday, December 21st, 2021

Lady’s new poem . . .

The draped length of the boa constrictor – behold
It has swallowed a chain of chicken eggs
Hold its leathery neck
And feel each egg individually

Massaging coughs them up

An egg has a beak that pecks of its own accord
Something made it, it hatches, it pecks of its own accord
And we are glad of this
for children will be alright
And imprints are made
On their fresh hatched clay

Mercury is a river in the fingers’ sieve,
Mercurial is the mind
But the knobby hand of a divining stick delivers
Revered is the pot which is mended
With gold and we know ourselves
Trophies of remorse

Aspirations wobble on new borne deer
Works are choreographed puppetry
on our own traveled feet
One in front of the other the patient horse
That has to go regardless of the snake’s
Labyrinth this is why, it has to, for what else is there
Other than one in front of the other
And a chain left behind
The left and right hand watches
The arbiter, the eyes

The feet patient and beautiful
Horse hooves plod like thoughtful rain
The body a reservoir of what
Has been felt, a dividend
Holy innocent ground
The stomach which would open to enclose
A womb to protect the world
From that mercurial mind
The hand holding that divining rod
Like a flag on Mount Everest
Claiming an inch every time I can
Here’s how far the oxygen got me
Here is the mindfulness of my foothold
The scaling of the mountains with my hands
I have hands and the dangling feet below
I have the dizzying heights and the dream’s missive
Of paper wings that do not follow the laws of physics
The observer can watch
The tumult of the indecisive tentacles
The spiked labia of a dog’s jowls
Writhing in the lagoon of our downed airplane dream
The wardrobe we push through in the cabin
To enter from an exit
Pecking
Lost in the shopping mall
Lost in the doctors’ offices
Naked in the high school hallway
Late for class
Missed appointment
Big hairy foot nigh
But never here thank God
Just hovering like a joke

word harvest 12.1 thru 12.15 2021

2021.12.1 – I love the dog
2021.12.2 – Cold day
2021.12.3 – You just do
2021.12.5 – Yesterday’s bones
2021.12.7 – I’m yesterday’s news
2021.12.9 – Tomorrow never comes
2021.12.10 – It’s all perception
2021.12.11 – Life with Wife 14
2021.12.13 – Working entropy mines
2021.12.15 – In the dark anyway

~ ~ ~

I love the dog
and he loves me
I see him gnawing bone
knowing if I died
fell to the floor
a couple days not being fed
that’d be me

~ ~ ~

Cold day
long hot salt soak
skin cuts

The crow of the blessed
the cry of the dispossessed

Yesterday’s bone
today
tomorrow’s scream

~ ~ ~

You just do
you do you do you do
until you don’t

~ ~ ~

Yesterday’s bones
tomorrow’s flesh
spirit inflected

~ ~ ~

I’m yesterday’s news
today’s trash
tomorrow’s compost

Zoo parking lot
full of red light people
going places not to be alone

Night train rumble
entropy
carrying yesterday away

Sometimes
weary’s what you got
weary, worry, wondering

Once feared
being inadequate
now I’m almost adequate

Morning dogwalk
heavy rain
another two-deer day

~ ~ ~

Tomorrow never comes
today won’t leave
yesterday waits

~ ~ ~

It’s all perception —
look how the stars sparkle
on the pus tonight

~ ~ ~

Life with Wife 14

Sometime it’s low fruit
or no fruit
“Especially with politicians,” she adds

What was cheese before it died?
“Cheeses.”
What?
“Cheese is, cheese was.”

She’s looking up the recipe
for broccoli and beast

“I going to trim your beard.”
I sez no.
She sez “Yes.”
I sez no.
I gets “the look”.

~ ~ ~

Working entropy mines
walking empty line
to last station

~ ~ ~

In the dark anyway
I sit in dark
for camouflage

or am I the darkness?
