The uneven line twixt right and wrong – foto by Smith

I played a Youtube video and an ad appeared offering me lawyers to handle a bad hip replacement. Just exactly how does Youtube know I got a hip replacement four months ago?

I click on a restricted movie trailer ad which asks when I was born and I lie and it tells me sorry, no such person exists in your zip code with that birth date. How does a movie mogul know my address and age without me telling them my name?

Think about it – they know who you are, where you live, your sex and age, most your interests and friends, and pretty much everything you’ve purchased lately . . . and they know it IMMEDIATELY. They don’t have to go search a data base after you type in your birth date because as soon as you sign on, they tag you, link to your database entry, follow you every click you make on every page you view — all in real time. And they do this simultaneously with millions, perhaps billions of people EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF THE DAY WITH ALL OF US AT THE SAME TIME.

The commercial hardware and interconnected linkage required boggles my mind but what really blows me away is the software programming involved — first, how do they know it’s me when I sign on? Isn’t that invasion of privacy? I mean, I know they can track my IP address which according to the internet “can often be used to identify the region or country from which a computer is connecting to the Internet. An IP address can sometimes be used to show the user’s general location.” But we have two computers here on one cable port — just how do the hip replacement advertisers know it’s me and not my wife signing on?

There are a lot of laws protecting our privacy, and I don’t believe the computer people or the bankers or the ad agencies or any government agency is obeying a single one of them. They know who you are, your health-medical-financial-purchasing history, and probably what time you get up and how long it takes you to brush your teeth. And if you blog, they keep a record of keywords in case you’re either a potential future customer or terrorist. In a 1994 interview, Mark Weber asked me, “*Do the walls have ears?” “Not as many as the TV and the telephone. If you come to THEIR attention, you’re dead meat.” I replied.

Our Government and our Corporations are pretty much one and the same thing — law-breaking, spying, thieving, bullying thugs in bed together licking each other in ecstasy as they roll abound in the illegal data they’ve siphoned from us in their never ending hope of sucking up all our money and killing every single anti-authoritarian thought we might have.

These people are not nice, not moral, do not have any interest in our best interests, care for nothing but the stench of raw unbridled power and the stink of mooooooore money, too much money, money on top of money, money fluxing money most foul, and all the useless shallow surface stuff it can buy.

Of course bottom line this 1984 Big Brother and BIGGER CORPORATIONS world we live in is not going to go away or get better or ever become a lawful endeavor because the genie cannot be put back in the bottle. The only hope for folk now is to be born out of a hospital and spend the rest of their life off the grid — no registering for school, electricity, voting, credit cards, insurance, magazine subscriptions – no IRS or Medicare or Social Security . . . and even if you can pull that off, they’re still going to capture your face in their data base with their biometric and face-capturing software via the millions of surveillance and secret cameras hung everywhere in stores, banks, on streets, etc. . . . and once your face is theirs and they see no official government tags attached, they’ll slap you in a special interest file and track you down and eat you just for practice.

Welcome to the new world, much stickier wicket than the old world.

On a lighter note, what do we the consumer people know? My cell fone just rang. I replied with a cheery Hello. Long pause until a polite middle-aged woman said cautiously, “Is this K-Mart?” “No,” I replied, laughing joyously, “it’s not.” She apologized sweetly and I left her with a chuckling “No problem.” Then I sat and laughed, glad I wasn’t K-mart, glad she was so nice, glad I was gentle, and hopeful my morning laughter NOT at her expense rides with her throughout the rest of the day making her just a wee bit happier . . . because if that happens, my joyous laughter raising her sprits could spread a little extra lightness to whomever she interacts with the rest of the day. After all, we’re all ripples on the cosmic pool.

The Corporate Mean

The promised land of milk and honey
Hides the men of scars and shame
Who came they say to slay their dragon
Yet slayed to stay the same

Sleep creeps like Jason’s wool
Down shelf enchanted eyes
Devolved from Mammon’s muse
These self selected wise
Inside their phantom rooms
In fairy tale castles
Devoid of viable dooms
As integrated assholes
They sway
Illusion’s lies

The News

I hope Clinton is right about the time being ripe for Mideast talks, although I think time is always ripe for candid, loving, respectful talk.

I am hoping that people can rebuild the infrastructure in the US to something more sustainable–not sure natural gas is the best way to go. Hoping for more electric, geothermal energy, whatever Tesla envisioned, etc. But rebuilding part of the infrastructure seems like it would be a good jobs program.

I’m hoping criminal charges are NOT filed against the man who inadvertantly started a fire in Colorado. Rather, I am hoping for an education program to be implemented, and perhaps this man can help testify part-time for the education program in compensation, although I hope they pay him for his time.

I believe we are composed of information which is visualized as seemingly tangible material which is receptive to psychological suggestion, so I believe this man was healed by Newman in concert with his physician’s help.

I am hoping for a soft landing for the 500,000 (1/10th of their population) who are being laid off in Cuba – I believe the Cuban system was pretty good other than being too constrictive of personal freedoms. There’s got to be a better middle ground for all of us.

I am hoping for reconciliation in Kashmir, and for people to never just shoot people on site.

On to the more difficult sites:

I really like this headline: “We Need a (Green) Jobs Program”
makes complete sense to me.

I like the positive outlook of this story “The Good Food Evolution.”

In Detroit, for example, African American elders raised in the South saw the vacant lots in our deteriorating neighborhoods not as blight but as opportunities to plant community gardens that would also give city kids a sense of the time and patience that are a normal part of country life and that human beings now need for our continuing evolution.

I like the evolving tone of this perspective–seems like a good thing to recognize good insights on the ‘right’ – “Too Bad Newt Gingrich is Nuttier than a Fruitcake Because a “Kenyan Anti-Colonial” Worldview Would be Good” I’d like to remind people on the left that Dennis Kucinich, who I admire greatly, also believes in aliens–which could be decried as pretty nutty.

So much skepticism and condemnation and vitriol on commondreams. How can we ever come together if we can’t forgive each other? I believe we must forgive.

Foxnews:

I’ve been largely ignoring the tea party as I do not want to get too emotionally involved. I am hoping that conservative movements can blend with liberal movements and find areas of common ground. I know there are areas of common ground. I am hoping for less emotional demonization from the extreme elements on the fringes of movements.

I have read about people on the border going out and shooting immigrants like its a party–I wish this was covered more on foxnews, and condemned. As it is, they are focusing on border agent patrols and drug busting.

Hoping for more understanding from the right about the consequences of treating other countries as places to plunder – 1,000,000+ iraqis killed as a result of our actions. We lost, what, a couple thousand in the twin tower incident? I do not think this t-shirt was purposefully designed to cause grief.

Can’t take any more this morning. I am hoping that people can reconcile their differences. I have friends from all over the spectrum, and they all have good hearts. A better reality is possible, and is in the making, I am sure of it.

The Weather

World weather report: Looks like the tropical storms are still safely out at sea. Weather.com says they are something to be concerns about, but I hope not.

I am hoping for a more even distribution of precipitation so that the arid regions of the world, the ones that are suffering from drought, have adequate precipitation.

European weather looks OK.

Hoping the risk of fires can be reduced in the west. I think this can happen if they get a bit more precipitation.

Heart hurts.

Dears,

I believe schitzophrenics and affectives and manics have antennae to Gaia and the Sun. I believe they can go crazy from not understanding the signals they are syncing into. We used to have roles for these people. We called them shamans.

Fly is buzzing around my head, trying to tell me something. Cricket’s chirping outside. Mandycat is interested in the fly.

I believe in an afterlife–probably of one’s conception, but I am not sure. I believe the signals I have received is from my conception of a possible afterlife, which is good.

Love,

Lady

World News Report–Mainstream Media:

Oprah Winfrey, Eminem, Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama are trending on Yahoo. Seems mighty fine to me.

I wish the Christian workers were not attacked in Indonesia. We need to be more tolerant and loving of one anothers faiths. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

I’m hoping North Korea has fewer floods. Glad South Korea is helping North Korea with rice.

I’m glad this newborn baby, who was abandoned, was found alive.

I’m hoping for even more cooperation between China and Japan. “Japan frees 14 crew members of Chinese ship

I’m hoping Israel opens up its borders again and reintegrates its economy with Palestinians, and that it acts compassionately with the consequences of the immigrants it has accepted from Asia and Africa. I’m hoping the Palestinians can forgive the Israelis.

I was amazed at the amount of openness in Mexico–there is a lot of repression, but also a lot of openness. I’m hoping NAFTA is repealed or made more fair so that small farmers in Mexico can return to their livelihoods and that our subsidized corn stops undermining their corn farming:

Checking commondreams.org and hoping for positive stories:

I don’t like the fearful/hopeless tone of much of this site today, although I understand the anguish. I like this David Michael Green article title:
“I Have A Dream, 2010 Version” and the assertions of John Nichols, although I am hoping for a soft landing for rich people, one that creates meaningful lives for them and helps them gainfully employ and fund people who have less money.
“Bring the Troops Home, Bust the Banksters, Democratize the Economy”

I definitely do not agree with this article about entropy: IMO, things are getting more and more integrated as life evolves. We sentients are the eyes and hands of God examining itself for integration before dispersal.

I have no wind in my sails this morning for more vitriol and despair. Hoping for some positive headlines on alternet.org. Oy. After checking this site, I suggest its readers examine this material with a grain of salt & stop despairing & try to work on seeing the ‘other’ side as the same side. We must work together.

Checking foxnews. Bleck. Seems pretty realistic but too pragmatic in terms of benefiting our culture at the expense of dominating other cultures. I definitely am not delighted about Fox News calling itself “Fair & Balanced.”

I am wishing for the elimination of the words ‘undermine,’ ‘insurgent,’ and ‘execute’ on foxnews.com. Also not sure Elie Wiesel should be a prime example of humanitarianism given the current nature of the Israeli state, but I’m willing to listen. Glad he’s hoping for Mideast peace, though.

(FYI, I my maternal grandmother is Jewish.)

– –

World Weather Report:

New tropical storm Julia is following behind Igor, but it looks like they’ll die out at sea.

Lots of heavy rain in southeast Asia and parts of Africa, and I’m hoping it’s all OK.

Wishing for more blue dots where they are needed to alleviate drought, and fewer blue dots where they are not needed. The eastern mediterranean is in need of blue dots, which I hope it gets. Europe looks fine.

– –

Glad to hear about the improvement in Guyatu Bagaja’s life. Her family is now located near water in the Horn of Africa. I hope they can find means to employment and good living. I’m hoping for more precipitation in Kenya to alleviate the livestock situation. I’m hoping for less conflict as well. I like the Disaster Risk Reduction programme and I hope it can continue to do good work and expand its influence and that some day it will no longer be necessary.

Adembe & Love,

K

Weather and News Report for the Citizens of the World 9/11/2010

Saturday, September 11th, 2010

Dear Citizens of the World:

I am hoping that September 11th is remembered as a somber date for this country and the rest of the world–that we come to recognize the genocide that we perpetrated in Iraq (over a million Iraqis dead), and that we make reparations. I do not know enough about what people may or may not be doing in Afghanistan, but I am hoping that we pull out of Afghanistan unless we can sufficiently change our philosophy to actually help all Afghan people.

Interesting info about bees and wasps: http://www.greensmiths.com/bees.htm – turns out that not only bees benefit us, but wasps as well. I really like the name greensmith as I am now a smith, and I used to be a green.

Grunt work:

Checking the collective psyche…

Collective psyche seems A-OK as far as facebook goes.

Checking mainstream media…

9/11: Mainstream media is expressing grief over the disappearance of the World Trade Center. I hope the Mainstream media can start publishing statistics of the number of people killed by the US due to our outrage. I find these statistics disturbing and sad. (1 million Iraqis or more, from what I understand. I am hoping for fewer casualties from Afghanistan, and I’m hoping we can actually make reparations directed by the governments of those countries.) We allowed the looting of one of the cradles of civilization.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100910/ts_ynews/ynews_ts3590

Checking marginal media on the left…

Alternet seems to have an appropriately conscientious examination of the situation, but I’m hoping for less fear and vitriol. http://www.alternet.org/

Speaking of fear and vitriol, I have difficulty reading commondreams.org lest it seem like commonnightmares. But I’ll check…

Interesting. I bet if some of the people who read common dreams start reading Fox News, they could resolve some of the vitriol and start coming together. Weird when left meets right. http://www.commondreams.org/

Checking mainstream media on the right…

Very interesting. Foxnews seems to be picking up on the same stories commondreams.org picks up on. http://www.foxnews.com/

I’m hoping though, that we can let the mexicans into this country without restriction, as it is my understanding that mestizos are bona-fide native americans, who are supposed to be allowed to cross borders without restraint. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/09/10/el-salvador-says-mexico-blame-migrant-massacre-mexican-leader-lashes/

Checking the elite media (New York Times)…

Apparently, there was a muslim prayer room at the World Trade Center: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/11/nyregion/11religion.html?src=ISMR_AP_LO_MST_FB

I like the headline of this article: “Business Class Rises in Ashes of Caste System” – http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/11/world/asia/11caste.html?_r=1&hp=&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1284201551-WGuN9h8LThEwzIyH89FeJg

German Identity is reasserting itself. I’m glad about this–I’m hoping for a candid self-examination by the youth who did not experience the conditions of WWI & II. I understand that seemingly homogenous populations have more of a seeming rootedness and xenophobia than what we experience in the US–I am hoping the US can become an example of excellence, integration and conscientiousness again. I know this is possible.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/11/world/europe/11germany.html?hp

Checking the weather…

World weather report as far as hurricanes/cyclones/etc. seems AOK today although I really wish I could see the west coast of Africa and South America. http://severe.worldweather.wmo.int/

Severe weather warning in Greece. Hope it is much needed rain, but if not, that it peters out and goes away.

Adembe and love and respect,

K

THE PONYTAILS WERE KILLING US

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

Ponytails were killing us. My most excellent friend & I are solving the problems of the universe. The most excellent show maybe ever–“Red Dwarf…”

On Friday, the Red Dwarf ran into the Squid of Despair, a giant squid. The cast and crew discovered that everything is a giant, mass hallucination, that we’ve all been playing parts for four years in a GIANT VIRTUAL VIDEO GAME.

SO, now they find out who they REALLY are–and THAT’s the DESPAIR–the despair was that they found out who they really were…

AND, right when they were about to KILL themselves, all cast members lined up, four in a row with one bullet–the ship’s computer finally got to a high enough FREQUENCY where they could HEAR and save them.

Oy.

So.

Friends, we suggest that we buy each other’s organically grown sustainable smoothie very expensive cakes and artisanal food, get frequent behive hairdos, sans hair dye, at the beauty salons where the hairdressers are paid magnificently and enjoy their work. Exercise classes and spas. Sustainable capitalism–it’s a plan.

– –

I suggest free education for everyone, or paid education, whatever works. And a career of anyone’s choice. Some people have to go to school longer for their careers. Those people should be paid a wee bit more. OK, incentive. But not ridiculous incentive. I’m thinking: sliding scale speeding tickets, like the ones they have in Sweden. Getting rid of tax loopholes and offshore accounts. Staying local. Stopping all this weird international shipping except for cruise ships to one anothers continents. In the basements of the cruise ships, we could carry very expensive, fine cheese and the spices and coffee of the world. Gigantic, energy efficient cruise ships. Free energy? What was that thing Tesla was talking about? Hope it works. I would like to beam myself to the North and South pole if possible, and Japan. Coffee crops as well. I really like coffee from fair wage growers whose wages must grow more excellent.

Keeping the inheritance ‘stuff’ within reason, but making sure these rich people work doing art/music/artisanal food or whatever tickles their fancy and stimulates the economy in a sustainable way.

– –

Primed the pump last night and bought some local, organic food. Sharpened our old knives for only $12. Hope he charges more next time. Hope the family business has more business coming in–we are an overtly ethical business. Hope our book projects take off. I know all this will happen. I just, know… it.

Oaxaca anti-government graffiti – foto by smith

Here are more lies from the 3-card monte pocket-picking Corporate world:

“Many companies are using a sneaky way to raise prices without driving customers to less expensive brands: They are shrinking their packaging. A jar of Skippy peanut butter, for example, is the same height and circumference it has always been, but now has a hidden, inward “dimple” on the bottom that decreases the amount the jar holds by two ounces. Boxes of breakfast cereal appear to be the same height and width they’ve always been, but manufacturers have reduced the boxes’ depth from front to back, decreasing the amount of cereal they hold. Rolls of Scott toilet tissue contain the same number of sheets as always (1,000), but the length of each sheet has been cut from 4 to 3.7 inches. A “six ounce” can of Starkist Tuna now holds just five ounces.”
