More good news to report. The breathing tube was removed today and Jeff is adapting to breathing on his own. He has been moved from the ICU to a step down unit.

Understandably, in light of his injury and surgeries, he is experiencing some pain but he has a PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia) device. His thumb is getting plenty of exercise! He is being kept as comfortable as possible and maybe the newfound thumb strength will make him ready for text-messaging soon.

While the healing continues, doctors have asked for another day or two of no visitors to allow him to rest. We read a number of your messages to Jeff today and they all put an appreciative smile on his face. Keep the messages through the guestbook flowing – they mean a lot to Jeff and Cynthia. More updates, with hopefully more good news, tomorrow.
