WALKING ON THIN ICE

beyond the valley of odd

no concert – foto by Smith

There’s a new jam with my words and voices and Peter Ball’s music online at reverbnation.com/apartmentone called IOUMESMITH.

This is a limited time offer – right now it’s the first song on the home page, but Peter makes and adds new music constantly; so if it’s not there, click on “See all 194 songs” and search for it in the master list.

Peter (aka Apartment One) makes the music, edits, mixes, records, and engineers while I stand at the mic not knowing what he’s going to play as I read recite twist and growl my words to his flow.

Style-wise I’m the mutant bastard offspring of a ménage à trois of poetry, song, and performance — this particular jam is sort of psycho werewolf rock, with a lot of moon howls on the side tracks.

I wrote the words January 1st, we jammed this afternoon the 6th, and he put it online tonight. I love this cyber highway we ride.

The lyrics.

I O U I O Me

They say there’s closure in the hole
but until I take that crossing
there’s cobwebs in the closet
with catching flies their goal,
fine print’s corrosive hint
of lies within the towers,
power’s hour decaying slow
with the whole thing going sour.

Cobwebs in the closet
No closure in the hole
Past sins must first be offset
before we slave our soul

So please soul say it isn’t so
provide a more positive posit
give heart a chance to sing
eye a ruddy red rose
ayes much deeper development.
For as my wife disclosed
“Now is the flower.”
We each our own self owe.

Cobwebs in the closet
No closure in the hole
Past sins must first be offset
before we enslave our soul

There are 15 Apartment One / Smith jams online from the past 8 years (each title ending in smith), some of them from Beyond the Valley of Odd.

transparent dancing girls

Here Again – foto by Smith

“What would it take to make you happy?” Lady asks.

“Transparent dancing girls under the palm trees beneath the sun.”

“Transparent *dancing* girls?”

“Oh, you’d like them too. You can’t see them. All you can see is what they’re wearing, swishing back and forth.”

“Go make me some tea.”

“Why should I?”

“I’ll make you a lot happier. In the next life, you’ll have all these ribbons for your hair.”

I don’t have any hair; I shave it all off every few weeks. I’ve always thought the higher one’s level of evolution, the less hair one has. God would be a bald headed hermaphrodite.”

“With no transparent pubes?”

“No, with just an amorphous mass down there, like a mutant Ken Barbie doll. That’s where the Mass originally arose in church — the amorphous mass of God’s genitalia. Although actually religion is more mess than mass.”

“What do you have against religion?”

“Basically because of their pay-now-don’t-collect-later policy of taking money from folks for a product that cannot be verified until after you die, when it’s too late to make sure what you receive is what they promised and there’s no chance for a refund.”

pirates war

pirates – foto by Smith

Two remnants from Jan 1, 2011. (hmmmmm, the year’s only three days old and I’m already blogging leftovers).

1 – A poem-ette I wrote about wife:

January 1, 2011

1-1-11 ~ Lady + me = us
One plus one equal one one

2 – Pirates:

Went to thepiratesbay.org (a mostly illegal Swedish file sharing site) to see what was up, but instead of their usual pirate ship logo, there was a notice from the U.S. Government saying they had seized the site for crimes against American commerce (see print screen above).

My first thought was of course — the U.S. invades and/or bombs whatever sovereign countries it feels like whenever it wants to, so naturally they’d have no qualms about illegally seizing a Swedish website. It made me smile — our pirate nation seizing Sweden’s pirate website. Aye, me mateys.

But today I went back to check and found the seizure notice gone and the original pirate ship back and it appeares the normal website came up. But as I checked around it seemed greatly diminished in its offerings.

So now I’m wondering — is it the real site, or is it actually our government pretending to be Swedish pirates in order to collect the names of downloaders?

As far as that goes, was the USA seizure notice real, or fake? I searched the web and found no news mention of a US seizure (which I think I would have were it real and legal) and learned the site was down most of Christmas week with the general populace believing it’s because of a dedicated denial of service (DDoS) attack by either the US government or US Corporations.

I did find this at nsaneforums.com: “In the final days of last month, US authorities targeted several sites they claimed were connected to the streaming of movies and TV shows {which} culminated in the apparent shutting down of 9 sites – TVShack.net, Movies-Links.TV, FilesPump.com, Now-Movies.com, PlanetMoviez.com, ThePirateCity.org, ZML.com, NinjaVideo.net and NinjaThis.net – although not in the conventional manner. Rather than rounding the operators up physically or threatening them with ruinous legal action, the US Government seized at least 7 of the domains instead, and pointed them to their own server which carried an ominous warning.

Sounds like what I saw. Also last month, Italy shut down an Italian offshoot of PiratesBay inside the country and blocked all access to any PirateBays outside the country.

I believe the cyber wars have begun. But who knows, I mean besides The Shadow?

I know I ain’t downloading nuthin’.
