Prepared worstest, got bestest.

Our 2.5 year-old purchased house was built in 1880.

During recent 2nd-story water leak, we were told our main water shutoff valve is reeeelly old, leaking, and no longer dependable, causing nightmares of flooding basement while waiting Water Company coming and shutting it off at the street.

Plumber said it sometimes takes 2 days to get it turned back on after he’s done, so I filled bathtub for toilet flushing water, a bunch of kitchen vessels for drinking and cooking, and a batch of buckets just in case.

And prepared my inner HulkSmith anger to go with the not-flow.

Water guy turned off water, plumber arrived while he was doing it, asked Water Guy to linger, swapped out bad valve, had him turn water back on, and we’re in business.

Half hour plumber, $350 . . . worth it.

Anyone need vessels of water?
