I’m a wordsmith who’s lost his words, so I’m going to post more of my old art.
These pieces range from 1971 through 2004 and vary in size from 3″ x 5″ (Limbic Lizard) to 24″ x 30″ (Examination of Consciousness).
Six of these eight are in other people’s art collections and I’ve not seen most of them in decades

Your poetry reads just as clear thru your art as well as your words. I think you’re a lifesmith, Smith.
It sounds like egotistical bragging but I don’t know of another person who puts out top shelf poetry, art, publishing, and fotografy . . . and maybe second or third shelf songs (see reverbnation.com/mutantsmith for 25 examples of my “singing”) and who has the life story I have which within 2-3 months will be for sale in my memoir Stations of the Lost – armed robbery, stolen cars, outsider art, mutant poetry, underground publishing, robbing the cradle, and leaving the country by Smith & Lady. And yet we’re still poor and mostly unknown.
This internet attention deficit world runs on content and Lady and I have more hi-qual content than anyone, so why are we struggling financially?
But anyway, you’re right – my art was born from my poetry and has never deviated. I’m a wordsmith first and foremost.
lady and I have a reading at the Elyria Arts Council outdoor Bistro August 20th from 8 to 9. And February 10th thru March 31st we’re having a 2-dead 2-live Smith art show down the street that should I hope finally open folk’s eyes.
Seeing those pieces only confirms that it’s time for a major Smith retrospective at a major Cleveland gallery ~ long overdue, if you ask me.

How’s this miserable economy and the Corporate Pirates treating youse?
Gallery’s not major but it does have two rooms . . . and it ain’t minor either — has a good rep and audience. Show will be from Feb 10 thru march 31, 2012 and will likely be titled The 2-Dead 2-Live Smiths show and is in my old loft building down the street. Gonna push it – plus have a poetry reading there one month and a memoir reading the next. Will include Cat, Mother Dwarf, Lady and myself.
Right now Lady is going thru memoir one last time and we’ll have it for sale withing 3 months I believe. She last worked on it just before her breakdown fall 2008. Since then I’ve reworked it 13 times, smoothing it out, adding segues, taking paragraphs out that slowed the flow, and adding new stuff. She says she’s amazed with how much better it is. Think we got a real winner here now.
August 20th we’re the featured poets at the Lorain Arts Council at a reading titled Night Fragments – Poetry in the Dark. We’ll be reading at the gallery’s outside Bistro.
I believe these next 12 months are going to kick it higher — or so I fervently hope.
